About two years ago I became an Ambassador for Construction which is a fantastic achievement seeming as I only returned to working for the Construction Industry four years ago. The work mainly involves raising the awareness of the Industry itself, particularly to Schools and sixth formers. I really love this work as it is always challenging and you really have to know your stuff and be well prepared as the students expect a high level of knowledge to be transferred to them and in return they show you what their expectations for the future are and its a fascinating and valuable exercise.
My role as Marketing Manager within Hayles and Howe an International ornamental plasterering company in Bristol is something I do part time and is always busy and challenging. At the moment it is more challenging than normal as the company is moving to two new premises one in Thornbury and one in Templegate, Bristol, so all the marketing is being redone and revaluated leading to an inspired Marketing plan for the company over the next five years. So, putting on my Ambassadors hat and visiting a school earlier this week I sat down and wrote my marketing plan to deliver to my students and in doing so it was a great voyage of discovery, as in my reflections of how things were when I started in the company, to how things are now, I finally realised how far I have come in a very short time.
Try writing down what you were doing two years ago and what you have achieved and its great ’cause then you can really see the difference you make and also you can see the effect of giving and receiving..
