I am so pleased Ai Wei Wei has been released from prison even though he is on bail. I love his work and consider it a good thing when an individual who is only in prison for exercising his internationally recognised human rights is released. I saw Ai’s work in in last year’s Sunflower Seeds installation in Tate Modern’s turbine hall and thought it was incredible. The beautiful design of the Olympic Bird’s Nest stadium in Beijing is also testament to his brilliance and it is great that he has become as well known for his activism as for his art – although he suggested in an article in the Guardian that it was not easy to draw a line between the two.
