I am just back from a lovely short break in Ireland visiting Margaret Neylon, who is brilliantly recuperating from a sudden illness. On Thursday morning the news broke that the Volvano in Icleand had erupted and that is was effecting all fllights from Ireland , even at this early stage the film footage of the eruption and its billowing smoke seemed to show no signs of stopping and it seemed obvious that my flight back to the Uk would be cancelled. The change in plans could have made travelling very difficult but amazingly everything fell into place really easily and I drove to Rosslare from Virginia and then got the Stena to Pembroke. It was a long trip but well worth the thinking time.
For sometime now I have been talking about New beginnings and the changes that are inevitably coming. The Volcano eruption is very significant as Pele is the Hawaiian Goddess of Volcanoes and she shows us that fire can purify and release us from the old to make way for the new, and wonderfully ignite our passions. Without fire nothing would change (no smoke no fire) and even though no flights have caused many disruptions it is great to rethink the way we travel and how much we take flying for granted. The skies are clear of planes and the sun has come out too, it has been a truly lovely few days..
